Title Using the free integrated technologies to provide online collaborative learning at reduced costs Type Conference Article
Year 2011 Publication Abbreviated Journal
Volume Issue Pages 1291-1295
Keywords Collaborative learning; Free software; Technology integration
Abstract Traditional learning process involves a series of costs related to the resources used and assumes certain restrictions to the lessons because of the way they are planed and deployed. Technological development has allowed the removal of certain restrictions, but it has also led to additional consequences, inexistent in traditional learning. This paper presents an analysis, in terms of costs and resources, which is needed in the implementation and operation of the systems that provide environments for collaborative learning, by highlighting some designed elements that can lead to reduced costs. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Title Promoting The Use Of Virtual Experiments In Sciences Education Through Educational Video-Clips Type
Year 2010 Publication Quality Management In Higher Education Abbreviated Journal
Volume 2 Issue Pages 467-470
Keywords
Abstract The paper emphasizes on the educational features of the video-clips that promote virtual experiments, having in view the representation of real experiments as video demonstrations (for Chemistry and Physics lessons) and the possibility for investigating students' mathematical thinking (for Mathematics lessons). The presented experiences are illustrated as part of the results of the Socrates-Comenius 2.1 European project 128989-CP-1-2006-1-RO-COMENIUS-C21: “VccSSe – Virtual Community Collaborating Space for Science Education”, coordinated by Valahia University Targoviste, focusing on a web Exhibition which consists of 50 video-clips that present important pedagogical aspects related to the use of virtual experiments in education. The produced video-clips target to the opening of new themes and reflection topics on how to increase the educational valences of virtual experiments and how to involve the video-clips, as multimedia products, in the teaching practice. This represents a feasible option for increasing the quality of the actual teaching methods for Sciences and Engineering Education.

Title The electronic book – A modern instrument used in teachers' training process Type Conference Article
Year 2011 Publication Abbreviated Journal
Volume Issue Pages 563-567
Keywords Best practice guidelines; Comenius 2.1. project; Curricula; Digital material; Digital materials; E-learning; Electronic book; Electronic books; Electronic document exchange; Electronic publishing; E-publishing software; Information technology; Management; Personnel training; Teacher training; Teaching; World Wide Web
Abstract Since Internet became in the last years the biggest source of information, the book concept has been dramatically redefined, especially in terms of separating of its content and the related support. Practically, when using the electronic media, a book could take a different look – the electronic book (e-book). Due to their widely spread in the last period, the e-books are one of the most effective ways to support distance learning (e-learning), as they can be read by thousands of readers. Due to the fact that the teachers have limited time for participating to the face-to-face training programmes, the e-books became an important tool for promoting different training courses organized in the frame of various projects. It was also the case of the three years Socrates-Comenius 2.1 European project “FISTE – A Future Way for In-Service Teacher Training across Europe” – code 118766-CP-1-2004-1-RO-COMENIUS-C21, when the partnership organized the on-line courses entitled “Integrated ICT in Traditional Training” and “ECSUT: Educational Challenges & Solutions in Using ICT” [1]. The best practices and experiences of the teachers who achieved the on-line courses were collected and help the partnership to design a web-guideline entitled “Best Practices Guideline for Educational Use of ICT Tools” as a final output of the project. The content of the European course and the web-guideline have been produced as an e-book format by using Desktop Author software application. In this sense, the paper aims to present the most important features proposed by Desktop Author software during the design process of the mentioned e-books, together with the main facets presented by the related e-volumes. © 2010 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Abstract The paper presents some aspects emphasized in the “Best Practices Guideline for Educational Use of ICT Tools”, realized as a main product of the Comenius 2.1 European project “FISTE – A Future Way for In-Service Teacher Training Across Europe”. The main aim of this guideline was to collect all the experiences gathered during the project, regarding the ICT tools explored and inserted in the on-line course “Integrating ICT in Traditional Training”, organized in the frame of the project. The best practices guideline was designed to reflect on the experiences of individual project partners in delivering of the mentioned on-line course. It extracted some conclusions regarding the effective educational use of ICT tools in traditional educational settings, from both pedagogical and technical point of view, and is edited as a web product accessible to European educators.

Title Delphi Study – A Comprehensive Method for Outlining Aspects and Approaches of Modern Science Education Type
Year 2013 Publication 2nd World Conference On Educational Technology Research Abbreviated Journal
Volume 83 Issue Pages 535-541
Keywords
Abstract In the last period, there are several studies that emphasized a drop of young students' interest for the Science lessons. In order to alleviate this tendency, Valahia University Targoviste started together with other 21 institutions from 20 countries to implement the FP7 European Research Project “PROFILES – Professional Reflection-Oriented Focus on Inquiry-based Learning and Education through Science”. The aim of the project is to promote Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) through “raising the self-efficacy of science teachers to take ownership of more effective ways of teaching students, supported by stakeholders” (PROFILES Consortium, 2010). In order to achieve the aim of the project, the partners agreed to carry out a curricular Delphi Study with the view to engage various stakeholders in reflecting on contents and aims of Science Education as well as in outlining aspects and approaches of modern Science Education. In this paper, the framework, the procedure and the interim results of the 1st round of Curricular Delphi Study on Science Education, carried out by Romanian partner, are presented. Volume 18 Issue 3 Pages 241-246
Keywords interface architectures; web-based interfaces; group decision support
Abstract With the exponential development of the web, the decision-makers are likely to use the web to support their decision -making processes. In group decision-making processes supported by an information system web-based or desktop-based – one of the most important element which can influence in a great extent if the system will be or not accepted and successful used for decision making, is the user interface. In this paper, we propose an architecture of an interface for an ideal web-based group decision support system.
